The Big 6 is a six-stage research model to help anyone solve problems or make decisions by using information. Under each of the 6 steps are two sub-skills, which explain what is to be done at each step. It was developed by Michael B. Eisenburg and Robert E. Berkowitz. The Big 6 model is based upon solving information problems, but can also be applied to other assignments and in real-life applications. The Big 6 places more emphasis on information search and use. The Big 6 model was created for students in grades K-12, but teachers of young students thought that this was too complicated for them. Eisenburg and Berkowitz developed the Super 3 for them. It is a modified version of the Big 6.
